Andalucia bike race: Prologue stage

Today's stage was a short sharp 35km affair including a crazy 8km neutral section through the narrow cobbled streets of Cordoba. The start was dangerous but we soon opened out onto wider roads for the main start. My self and Ben were positioned a little way back and had some work to do to catch up. My legs didn't like Ben's pace so progress was slower than we would have liked! We took a few places up the main climb of the day which turned into a hike a bike at the top. Once over the top we joined a large group which unfortunately split in the single track. I was suffering the anerobic efforts on the rolling terrain so could only hang onto the back. A number of riders including fellow brit Matt page and his team mate Milton Ramos broke away from the group in the single track. We were stuck behind slower riders in the single track but managed to gain back a few places on the final descent to finish in 28th position.

Hopefully tomorrows longer stage will suit us better and we are hoping to make it into the top 20.
